My Biography

My name is Harriet Prudence Patterson Hall. I was born in 1743 in Antrim County, Ireland. When I was twelve years old my mother and I boarded a ship to America. We ended up in Maryland but weren’t satisfied with the land so we decided to move to Pennsylvania. Then when I was fifteen I moved to South Carolina. The trip there was horrible. I had to ride horse back the whole way while herding the cows behind the wagon. Once in Charleston, South Carolina my life was changed to become what it is today.

I was married to the handsome John Hall in 1763, and we had our first child whom we called Margaret. When John went to fight in the revolutionary war for South Carolina, I was devastated. What if he was killed? Then I wouldn’t have a husband any more. I’d be a stupid’ lonely old widow’ and my life would suck. Then I had my chance at the war.

It all started when I heard a man moaning in pain by the creek. He had been scalped and was dieing quickly. So, I took him in and nursed him back to health. Due to my bravery I was asked to carry some important information to a general in the army. While I was on my way the stupid British soldier’s who thought I was a spy captured me. In a way, I sort of was. But I couldn’t let them know that. So I told them that I was a nurse who needed to get supplies, and the believed me and let me go. So, I was able to complete my mission and was know a heroin in the revolutionary war.

My Accomplishments.

  • Saving a man who had been scalped.

  • Carrying secret letters that were transfered to a general in the army.

  • Escaping the British who held me prisoner.
